Macoun apple identification

Macoun apple identification
Rarely available outside its native New England, but well worth seeking out if you can find it. Macoun is perhaps the best of the “Mac” style apples, with a pronounced floral note to its sweet juicy flesh. However the flavour does not keep, this is an apple best eaten soon after picking – the season runs from October to November. Parentage: McIntosh x Jersey Black. Introduced / discovered in 1920s.
